Medicare Part D gives coverage for prescription drugs and is provided by private insurance companies.
Many Medicare Advantage plans come with built-in Part D prescription drug coverage, offering a convenient all-in-one solution for your healthcare needs.
Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans do not cover prescription drugs. To get prescription drug coverage, you can enroll in a standalone Part D plan alongside your Medigap plan.
Original Medicare does not provide prescription drug coverage. By enrolling in a Part D plan, you can ensure you have the prescription drug coverage you need.
How much is Medicare Part D?
There are typically two types of costs with Medicare Part D:
Plan premium
Prescription drug costs (copays)
Each plan includes a list of covered medications, known as a "formulary." Medications are often categorized into different "tiers," with each tier having a different cost.
A licensed agent can assist you in estimating your costs and finding a plan tailored to your needs. Additionally, savings programs and options like preferred pharmacy networks are available to help lower your expenses.
